Saalbach-Hinterglemm offers a small yet perfectly formed cross-country area. Here, proponents get to enjoy 12 kilometres of trails for this 'gliding' sport in a superbly tranquil natural landscape – classic skiers, skaters, at beginner's level and also those at a more advanced level. On the one hand there is 2 km altitude slope at an elevation of between 1100 and 1400m (ascent on the Reiterkogelbahn) which provides quite simply dreamy views, and on the other there is the 10 km slope at the head of the valley near Hinterglemm, which proceeds to the Lindlingalm and fulfils all the requirements of an interesting and variety-packed trail.
Those for whom that is not enough will find another 150km of trails in neighbouring 'Nordic Zentrum Saalfelden' – some of which have artificial snow cover and are floodlit in the evening.
And those who want even more skiing – the trails around Saalfelden link up with the extensive slope network in Saalachtal, which provides some 80 very well-tended kilometres of trails. Or you could ski from Saalfelden to Leogang, to Hochfilzen Biathlon Centre that is well-known for the annual World Cup races. You can also take part in the 'Guests Biathlon' event – just give it a go!
